A Message from Rev. John Jenkins, C.S.C., Provost Marie Lynn Miranda, and EVP Shannon Cullinan - Daily Health Check & Virtual Town Hall

Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

In just two short weeks, we will begin the new academic year. As you know well, reopening campus safely in the midst of the global pandemic will require each of us to do our part, for ourselves and for each other.

You will hear us say often that there are four things every member of this community must do every day:

  1. Wear a mask.
  2. Practice physical distancing.
  3. Wash your hands often.
  4. Complete your daily health check.

We write today for two reasons. First, we want to introduce the Return to Campus Advisor (RTCA), the online tool we will all use for the daily health check. Through some simple questions that take less than 2 minutes to complete, the RTCA will identify symptoms you have that could be related to COVID-19. Once you complete the survey, you will receive one of the following:

  • Green Pass: you are cleared to report to class or work on campus; or
  • Red Pass: you should stay in place, and follow the instructions provided.

Beginning tomorrow, you will receive daily reminders to complete the health check. Please complete your health check every day, seven days a week, from now on – even when you don’t plan to be on campus. The aggregate data provided by the health check will help identify emerging trends and shape campus responses. You can learn more about the daily health check at the link below.

Secondly, we invite you to join us for a Virtual Town Hall for Faculty and Staff on Wednesday, July 29 from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. This will be an opportunity for us to share additional information about the reopening of campus and to answer questions you may have. We invite you to submit any questions you would like addressed at the Town Hall by Wednesday at noon via this form by 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, and we will do our best to get to as many of them as we can.

Thank you for everything you are doing to keep our campus and our neighbors in the surrounding area safe. We know it’s not easy to adjust to the many changes that will be part of life on campus this fall. At the same time, it has never been more important for the Notre Dame community to turn our care and concern for one another into action.

We hope you can join us for the Town Hall on Wednesday. As always, you and your loved ones are in our prayers.

In Notre Dame,

Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C.
