Statement on 25th anniversary of 9/11 attacks 

As we mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, I invite the Notre Dame community to pray for those who lost their lives in the tragic events of that day and in the days, weeks, and years that followed, including members of our own Notre Dame family. We continue to be inspired by the first responders and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to save others. For some in our community, the memories of that fateful day are vivid; for those who were not yet born, their understanding of the events of that day are shaped by the stories we tell, individually and collectively. On this anniversary, let us come together as a global Catholic research university and rededicate ourselves to deepening our understanding of violence and its causes, and to building a world that is more humane, just, secure, and peaceful.
