Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, expressed his deepest condolences to the family and friends of Travis McElmurry, a first-year student at Notre Dame Law School who passed away over the weekend. He was 30.

McElmurry, from Granada Hills, California, and a graduate of Pepperdine University, was found in his off-campus residence Sunday night.

“As a university community, we mourn Travis’ passing,” Father Jenkins said. “Our prayers are with his family and many friends. May God grant them consolation in this time of sorrow, and may Notre Dame, Our Lady, watch over them.”

The University Counseling Center and Campus Ministry are available to offer their support to members of the Notre Dame community.

All are invited to join the Notre Dame community on Wednesday, March 22 at 5:15 p.m. in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart to celebrate Mass in memory of Travis. Father Jenkins will preside and Fr. Pat Reidy, C.S.C., will preach.
