A Message from Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C. - COVID Vaccination Update

Dear Notre Dame Students,

I write with congratulations . . . and thanks!  90% of our undergraduate and professional students have received either two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of Johnson & Johnson.

As I promised in my prior message, we will now take these further steps in relaxing some of our on-campus protocols:

  • We are dispensing with weekly surveillance testing for those who have been fully vaccinated beginning Monday, May 10, and those who are fully vaccinated will not be required to participate in exit testing.  You'll soon receive more information about this.
  •  In recognition of the efforts of all our students, we will add $15 in Flex Points to each student’s Irish1Card effective this evening.
  • Having achieved a 90% vaccination rate among the Senior Class, we are moving forward with all of the events planned as part of Senior Week.

It has been a tremendously challenging year, and I thank you for all you have done to make it successful. Your being vaccinated at such a high rate will not only protect you, it will make the campus, the local community and your home communities safer.

Of course, even with this wonderful news about our vaccination rate, it's important in these final days of the semester for all of us to continue to follow the COVID protocols that remain in place. Please stay safe.

Know that you are always in my prayers.

In Notre Dame,

Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C.

President
