Associate Director, Office of the Board Secretariat

Demetra C. Schoenig
Demetra C. Schoenig joined the Office of the Board Secretariat as assistant director in August 2008, and was named associate director in February 2010. In this position she works with the associate vice president and counselor to the president to facilitate effective governance of the Board of Trustees, acts at the Business Manager for the Office of the President, and manages initiatives in service to the University’s Catholic mission.
A 2002 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Ms. Schoenig majored in classics, and pursued her interest in management through courses at the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurship in the Mendoza College of Business. Her senior business plan led her to a position in Chicago with the furnishings company Brunschwig & Fils. She expanded her knowledge of business operations and marketing through a subsequent position with Cowtan and Tout in Los Angeles, and prior to returning to Notre Dame she led the market positioning efforts of Balmer Architectural Mouldings in New York.
Ms. Schoenig’s civic involvement includes volunteer work at Hannah’s House, a maternity home in Mishawaka, Indiana, assistance with the Development Committee of the Institute for Classical Architecture and Classical America, and service as a Director of the Board for the ICA&CA Southern California Chapter from 2006-2008. Her involvement in the arts includes past membership in the Apollo Circle of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and involvement with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Decorative Arts Council. As a student at the University of Notre Dame, Ms. Schoenig chaired the VOICE Student Advisory Board at the Center for Social Concerns, worked as a producer for the Hispanic Heritage Awards Foundation in Washington D.C., and organized events sponsored by the Department of Film, Television & Theater.
